Justin Garrett

Took my 1994 GMC Sonoma here because of recommendation made by great uncle. Had them replace ignition and work on steering column. I had been taking all five of my GM vehicles to McCarthy Chevrolet in Lee's Summit but since my grandmother jointly owns my truck she didn't want to pay half of the dealers price with me and thought we should give them a chance. Anywho, they didn't do to bad on the ignition but the shifter was "fixed" and is really sloppy. Dealership said it was worn out but the owner of this joint said otherwise and just adjusted it or whatever. They also damaged other parts of my truck or didn't reinstall properly such as the parking brake lever doesn't spring back in like it should. When I addressed the owner about this he said he didn't know if they broke it or not but would be happy to give me an estimate on getting it fixed. I don't have time for these games and I haven't been back. My grandmother even complained about how hard it is to tell what gear it's in the other day. I told her you get what you pay for. This repair was done about a year ago and we've put roughly 3,000 miles on the truck since then. Not being a daily driver and only used for work. Probably an ok place for brakes and lube jobs but the dealership is generally comparable on pricing with maintenance items versus repair. I've been taking all five of my GM vehicles to McCarthy Chevrolet in Lee's Summit and still highly recommend them for their quality of work on GM vehicles. Also, I would like to add that I changed my review to one star after reading the owners response to this. The truck was given back to me like this. I have better things to do then drive back and forth back and forth because they have no quality control and on top of this. They damaged something that worked just fine before I took it to them and wouldn't own up to it as stated above. Taking it back for warranty work could possibly result in more broken things on my vehicle that they will not own up to which I will not allow. In the past, McCarthy Chevrolet has made mistakes and damaged stuff on one of my vehicles one time. Not only did they own up to it but did everything they needed to do to make me a satisfied customer including giving me free stuff. I'm not going to say this place is any less then typical for a mom and pop shop. I just know when I need repair work done to any of my vehicles which I do not have the knowledge or skills to do. I need a place that is trained and knowledgeable about my vehicle and that's when the dealership comes into place. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I highly highly highly recommend you take any GM vehicle that you own to McCarthy Chevrolet in Lee's Summit versus this place.
