My children grew up in private schools and weren't sure how well they would like public school, but Hollister Middle School is unlike any other public middle school. It is small enough to make it intimate and friendly, large enough to give people space.
The administration could not be better. The principal at HMS knows each and every student by name, and loves each and every student there. Unlike any other middle or high school, Dr Cage stands out every morning, rain or shine, to greet the students as they arrive. Equally every door the buses unload has an administrator or staffer/educator there to see each one is accounted for and knows they are glad they are there.
The atmosphere at HMS is unlike any other you will find, probably including any private school. It lacks formality and is casual yet focused on education, but education that kids enjoy.
Kids at HMS are treated like kids. I love that being a child/teen therapist - too many schools are trying to turn children into miniature adults - not HMS.
I encourage anyone thinking about moving to Hollister to go visit all the schools, Hollister has the most amazing Early Learning School, Elementary School, High School - but what stands out as their star is Hollister Middle School.
I feel honored my children attend there.
